Marjorie Williams Brown, 1953
Author
Nominated by Ann Williams Rogers

Marjorie Williams Brown is a graduate from Colby High School class of 1953. She told her mother when she was a little girl that one day she would write a book. Her mother didn't believe her as she was always drawing something. She worked as a reporter for The Prairie Drummer and wrote the “History of Gem, Kansas” with her boss, Bill James years ago. Now she writes a column for the Colby Free Press called Marj's Snippets. She is a Kansas Author's Club Literary Contest winner for her book, “Secrets of Roberts Mountain”.

Even though she was writing, Marjorie never lost interest in her art and is an active member of the High Plains Art Club. The art club has several art shows a year and continues to offer instructional classes.

Marjorie is a retired RN. She and her husband, James M. Brown still live in Colby. They have three grown children, grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
