Laura was chosen as Miss Kansas 1983 and feels she is an individual that achieved a great accomplishment. She spent her year as Miss Kansas being a good will ambassador for the State of Kansas . She traveled the entire state, visited schools, civic organizations and proudly proclaimed the benefits of being a Kansan.
