“What a wonderful teacher she was! I was always afraid of Mrs. Davis because she was so stern and unyielding, but one evening walking home from work (I was a junior in high school at the time) I noticed a car was slowly following me. I became frightened, as it was nearly dark. I went to Mrs. Davis’ door and knocked and told her my problem. She invited me in, we had a really nice visit, some hot chocolate also while I waited for my Dad to come after me. Never again did I feel she was cold or uncaring. She used that stern manner at school to accomplish cooperation. I grew to really love and respect her.”
