Amy Marty Leroy-Gelb, 1975, Notable career in cheer and dance
Nominated by Rose Marty Thomas-Sienkiewicz, class of 1973
Amy was a cheerleader throughout her four years at Colby High
School (also at Colby Community Junior College and Arizona State
University) and went on to establish a very notable career associated
with cheer and dance. For the past 15 years, she has been President and
Director of Arizona Angels Studio, Inc., of which she is the founder
and primary owner. As director and lead instructor, Amy has had a
profound positive impact on the lives of hundreds of girls. She has
also provided them with life-changing experiences such as performing at
the Goodwill Games in Australia and, very recently, in the 2005
Inaugural Parade in Washington , DC .
Ernst & Young named Amy ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ in the year
2000 for her great accomplishments, including extraordinary community
and charitable involvement. She serves on committees for The Emily
Fashion Show Teen Group, MDA, the Arizona Girls Ranch and the Fiesta
Bowl. Amy and the Arizona Angels have made over 300 appearances for
charity functions and heart-felt events such as The Ronald McDonald
House, Special Olympics,
Open-Door Shelter, City of Hope, Faith House, Phoenix Children's
Hospital, American Heart Association, Leukemia Society, American
Diabetes Foundation and many more. She was also named '2002 Arizona
Spirit Association Coach of the Year', and won the title of Mrs.
Arizona-America in 1991. Needless to say, I am very proud of my sister,
as are our parents, Donald L. and Ella L. Marty (now residing in
Chandler , AZ ), and her husband, Michael
Gelb.
